Resistant starch is excellent for gut health because it acts as a prebiotic, meaning it feeds the beneficial bacteria in your gut. Unlike regular starch, resistant starch isn’t digested in the small intestine; it passes through to the large intestine, where it ferments and produces short-chain fatty acids, such as butyrate. Butyrate is especially beneficial as it strengthens the gut lining, reduces inflammation, and promotes overall gut health.
